Nisser
Nisser are kin to the dwarves but are smaller and with a slighter build. They originally lived in hollow rocks, now they are sometimes found in peoples homes, and have a mischievous nature. The nisser has a disposition towards dark magic, and sometimes ambushes unsuspecting people at night stealing anything shiny. They tend towards easy victims, such as drunk people walking home. Sometimes a nisse hoard is found, these usually consist of ancient coins.
Amongst non magical folks a legend exists, with some truth to it, it states that you can satiate the evil inclinations of your local nisse by leaving rice porridge with cinnamon sugar and something called nissebeer out for them. This is a very dark, sweet and weak beer, which is good, because nisser can not hold their liquor and a nisse hangover lasts for a fortnight and leaves the nisse in a terrible mood, even more prone to violent and dark acts.
Ellefolka
The Ellefolka or Ællefolket are a race of people closely related to the elves, but millenia ago the two races took separate paths. Where the elves sought the light of the sun and the forest, the Elle sought darkness and settled in swampy marsh lands and moors. They shy away from the sun and use their magic to create fog that allow them to travel outside their dark holes and caves.
In Denmark there is a saying, "Mosekonen brygger" literally "The Bogwife brews" referring to a specifically thick fog rising from swamps or wetlands, and describes the effect of the Ellefolkas magic fog.
Due to the draining and tilling of wetlands in modern times, the Elle has become very rare though some efforts have been made to rewild their habitats, the effort might be too late to save them from the tipping point of extinction.
The Elle is as tall as an elf, but their backs are bent and they rarely stand straight, their skin colour is greatly varied but all seem to have a greenish or blue hue to them. They typically have long matted hairs filled with moss, twigs and coloured green with algae.
